What do you like best about working for ServiceMaster of Allentown?

Our company has been family owned and operated for over 50 years and have made it a priority to truly value our customers, many of which have been using our services for years. ServiceMaster of Allentown has a lot of special and unique cleaning services that can not be found with other professional cleaners. It is so rewarding when we can help our customers in ways they weren’t expecting, such as a customer that has been using us for years to clean their carpets and upholstery and then has a sewer backup or smoke damage in their home. This is an experience that may only happen once in their lifetime, but is very upsetting. They can find comfort in the fact that the same company they know and trust can take care of them during these trying times too.

What’s the strangest thing you have ever found on a job?

Frozen clothing, we did a fire job in the middle of winter and the water froze the clothing solid.

What would you describe as the best part of your job?

I am the Aunt of the current business owner, Alex Schueck and sister of former owner Scott Witmer. Our father, H. Glenn Witmer, started this business while we kids were still in school, and so continuing the tradition became second nature to us. We have worked together as a family for more than 50 years, and are now seeing the next generation moving in to replace us “old-timers.” I would have to say that this journey with the family has been my most rewarding business experience. We have learned to navigate our differing roles as family at certain times and as business associates, with completely different dynamics, at other times. It is not without its challenges, but it just works!

Let us work with you! If there is something wrong, give us the opportunity to fix it.

What can a potential customer do to make your job easier?

I explain to our potential customers that we are in partnership with them instead of just another vendor. If there is an emergency we will reach out to the facility manager after hours and give them as much information as possible so that they can react to it (plumbing- electrical- alarm-facility- flooding problems are some of the issues we have dealt with in the past). If it is an emergency that we are trained to perform we can dispatch our technicians to handle it that night.

What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to clean up on a job?

Strangest thing I ever had to clean up… I thought it was a dead mouse until I picked it up by its tail & it started squirming… EWWWW!

What is the strangest thing you have ever had to clean up on a job?

Tear gas! It is very difficult to remove from different surfaces and certainly lets you know if you leave some behind!
